Job summary

Pfister Energy seeks a Solar Site Superintendent to oversee subcontractors on rooftop and groundmount solar projects in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. You will ensure schedule adherence, QA/QC, safety compliance, and project closeout, reporting to the Construction Manager.

Responsibilities include daily site presence, coordinating with subcontractors, logging daily records, and ensuring IFC drawings and specifications are followed.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of solar field supervision or equivalent.
• Experience managing subcontractor performance on commercial projects.
• Knowledge of photovoltaic systems and wiring.
• OSHA 30-hour certification required.
• Ability to read IFC drawings and site plans.
• Willingness to travel Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Serve as the site point of contact for the general contractor and other trades.
• Verify work conforms to IFC drawings and project specs; issue stop-work if needed.
• Perform QC tests and document results; complete QA/QC checklists in Procore.
• Enforce site safety plan; review JHA and issue stop-work for unsafe conditions.
• Maintain knowledge of project schedule and coordinate inspections with AHJ/utility.
• Manage punch list and project closeout; support commissioning activities.
• Document subcontractor performance and track material deliveries for pay apps.

Position Summary

The Solar Site Superintendent represents Pfister Energy on subcontracted rooftop and groundmount solar projects. The position is responsible for on-site oversight of subcontractor activities, including schedule adherence, quality assurance, safety compliance, and project closeout. The Solar Site Superintendent reports to the assigned Construction Manager, who retains overall project accountability.

Daily Site Oversight

• Maintain a daily presence on assigned project sites during subcontractor construction activities.
• Conduct daily coordination meetings with the subcontractor’s site foreman to review the daily work plan, manpower, deliveries, and identified hazards.
• Track subcontractor progress against the project schedule and report deviations to the Construction Manager.
• Maintain a daily construction log documenting crew count, work in place, weather conditions, deliveries, delays, and site photography.
• Coordinate material deliveries with the subcontractor, Pfister logistics personnel, and site representatives.
• Serve as the site point of contact for the general contractor, host site personnel, and other trades.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control

• Verify subcontractor work conforms to the Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and project specifications, including racking, attachments, module installation, wire management, grounding, and terminations.
• Identify and correct nonconforming work in the field; issue stop-work directives when appropriate.
• Perform and document required QC tests, including torque checks, pull tests, insulation resistance readings, and continuity verification.
• Photograph and document each phase of construction, including attachments, racking, modules, wire runs, terminations, and labeling.
• Complete and submit project QA/QC checklists in Procore.
• Escalate design conflicts and field discrepancies to the Construction Manager and Engineering with supporting documentation.

Safety Compliance

• Enforce the site-specific safety plan, including fall protection, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, hot work, and ladder and lift safety.
• Verify subcontractor personnel hold current training, certifications, and site-specific orientation prior to beginning work.
• Review the daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with the subcontractor foreman.
• Issue stop-work directives for unsafe conditions.
• Report near-misses and incidents to the Construction Manager and the Director of Safety on the day of occurrence.
• Conduct weekly toolbox talks with the subcontractor crew.

Schedule & Coordination

• Maintain a working knowledge of the project schedule, including milestones, three-week look-ahead, and critical path activities.
• Coordinate inspections with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), utility, and third-party quality personnel.
• Coordinate with the Operations Manager and Procurement on material deliveries and site staging.
• Coordinate crane picks, lift plans, and oversized deliveries with the Construction Manager and vendors.
• Provide daily updates to the Construction Manager and immediate notification of any condition affecting schedule, budget, or safety.

Punch List & Project Closeout

• Conduct pre-punch walkthroughs prior to subcontractor demobilization.
• Manage the punch list through completion and sign-off.
• Support commissioning activities, including IV curve testing, string checks, inverter startup, and monitoring verification.
• Participate in final walkthroughs with the customer, general contractor, and AHJ.
• Redline construction drawings for as-built records and submit to Engineering.
• Compile closeout documentation, including QA/QC records, torque logs, test reports, warranty documents, and photographic records.

Subcontractor Management

• Hold the subcontractor accountable to the contracted scope, schedule, and quality standards through written documentation in daily logs and Procore.
• Document subcontractor performance issues in real time to support backcharge and claim resolution.
• Verify daily subcontractor manpower and equipment against contractual commitments.
• Track subcontractor material deliveries and installed quantities in support of Construction Manager pay application review.
• Identify and report potential change-order conditions as they arise.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience in solar field supervision, commercial construction supervision, or electrical foreman work, including rooftop and groundmount project types.
• Demonstrated experience managing subcontractor performance on commercial construction projects.
• Working knowledge of photovoltaic systems, including racking, modules, inverters, DC and AC wiring, grounding, and monitoring.
• Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, single-line diagrams, and civil site plans.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required. NFPA 70E familiarity required. Fall Protection Competent Person preferred.
• Proficiency with Procore or equivalent construction management software.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Willingness to travel throughout Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
• Projects are based in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
