Job summary

FootBridge is seeking a Senior Field Superintendent for on-site leadership of large-scale technology and data infrastructure construction projects. You will oversee daily field operations, supervise labor, trades, and vendor partners, and coordinate cross-trade integration across mechanical, electrical, and systems commissioning phases.

You will drive safety culture, lead look-ahead scheduling, field QA/QC, and manage execution through commissioning with GC and owner teams.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Field Superintendent serves as the primary on-site field authority and trade leadership manager for large-scale, complex technology and data infrastructure construction projects. This role oversees daily field operations, supervising self-perform labor, specialized trade subcontractors, and vendor partners while coordinating cross-trade integration.

The Field Superintendent acts as the main point of contact representing the firm to General Contractor leadership, owner representatives, and commissioning teams. Responsible for driving safety culture, daily look-ahead schedules, field QA/QC, and multi-trade execution through mechanical, electrical, and systems commissioning phases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Direct all field operations and supervise site labor, trade partners, and specialty subcontractors.
• Manage daily field integration across mechanical, heavy electrical, controls, automation, low-voltage, and commissioning teams.
• Act as primary field liaison to General Contractor superintendents, owner construction managers, and third-party inspectors.
• Lead daily trade coordination stand-ups, progress walks, and alignment sessions to maintain schedule velocity.
• Resolve technical field conflicts and constructability issues in real time to prevent delays.

Schedule Execution & Quality Assurance

• Generate and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules aligned with the master project baseline.
• Direct field teams through installation, startup, functional testing, and systems commissioning phases.
• Enforce quality control protocols, verifying work compliance with project plans, submittals, and specifications.
• Track daily manpower, equipment utilization, and field productivity for project controls reporting.
• Identify scope gaps or design discrepancies early and present proactive field solutions to engineering teams.

Safety & Risk Mitigation

• Enforce site safety programs in coordination with company and General Contractor EHS teams.
• Drive compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and high-risk operational standards across all assigned scopes.
• Lead daily toolbox talks, task safety analyses (JHA/JSA), and high-risk work permitting processes.
• Exercise full Stop-Work Authority for unsafe conditions and verify implementation of corrective actions.
• Oversee energized electrical testing, cutovers, and critical system integrations safely.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

• Represent the firm professionally during owner walks, general contractor reviews, and commissioning audits.
• Communicate operational progress, field risks, and schedule mitigations clearly to project management leadership.
• Build collaborative working relationships across all trade partners to maintain site accountability.
• Capture field execution lessons learned to refine standard operating procedures and best practices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• 8–10+ years of progressive field supervision or site superintendent experience within mission critical, data center, heavy MEP, or complex industrial environments.
• Proven track record managing multi-trade construction sites and directing sub-contractor activities.
• Deep knowledge of complex MEP sequencing, high-voltage/critical power workflows, and industrial commissioning steps.
• Strong client-facing presence with experience coordinating directly alongside GC superintendents and commissioning agents.
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA guidelines, NFPA 70E safety protocols, and hazardous work permits.
• Tech-savvy with field construction management platforms (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, or similar).
• Decisive leadership style with the ability to maintain composure and drive production under strict deadline pressures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across field labor, trade leads, and executive teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Frequently manipulating, moving, or handling tools, equipment, testing instruments, and construction materials.
• Frequently remaining in a stationary position during planning meetings, site reporting, and documentation tasks.
• Frequently moving across active, dynamic construction sites and mission-critical environments, including exposure to changing weather conditions, dust, and high noise levels.
• Frequently ascending and descending stairs, scaffolding, and ladders to access elevated work platforms and equipment suites.
• Occasionally positioning self around tight or confined spaces to inspect mechanical and electrical installations.
• Occasionally lifting or moving tools, testing equipment, or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) continuously in high-decibel or hazardous environments.

TRAVEL & WORK CONDITIONS

• Full-time, daily site presence required for the duration of the project assignment.
• Flexibility to work non-standard hours, extended shifts, weekends, or night cycles during critical testing, commissioning, and system cutover windows.
• Up to 25% regional/national travel as required for client meetings, initial project setups, or project transfers.Valid Driver’s License and compliant travel documentation required for domestic transit (air and ground).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent hands-on field leadership experience will be fully considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of total field leadership experience executing large-scale, complex industrial or mission-critical MEP infrastructure construction.
