Job description

Why Mid-States

Since 2001, Mid-States has designed, fabricated, installed, and serviced the systems that keep agricultural and processing facilities running — on job sites across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. We\'re family-owned and family-run, and we\'ve grown by investing in the people who lead our work. That shows up in how we take care of our team: a 100% company-paid health plan option, a generous 401(k) match, and profit sharing for every team member, just to name a few.

The Opportunity

Mid-States Millwright & Builders is looking for a Site Superintendent to take full ownership of our job sites — from the first owner\'s meeting to the final punch-list walkthrough. You\'ll lead our millwright crews and subcontractors on new construction, expansions, and repair and maintenance projects, working hand in hand with our Project Managers to deliver work that\'s safe, on schedule, on budget, and built to Mid-States standards.

This is a leadership role for someone who knows agricultural equipment inside and out, takes pride in developing the people around them, and wants their name attached to a job done right. Superintendent is also a key step on our field leadership path, with room to grow into project management as you take on bigger sites and bigger responsibility.

What You\'ll Do
  • Oversee all field operations at assigned job sites, leading Millwright I and II team members and subcontractors
  • Train, guide, and develop your crew in proper installation techniques to meet equipment specifications and Mid-States operational standards
  • Meet with owner\'s representatives, manage project milestones, and build strong relationships with every customer and their teams
  • Execute project scopes for Mid-States crews and subcontractors to keep work on time and on budget
  • Report daily to the Project Manager on milestones reached, next steps, hours by task, and progress photos
  • Finish jobs completely before moving on, and communicate early when schedules need to be adjusted
  • Lead and document weekly toolbox talks, and make sure safety requirements are covered with every employee, sub, and owner on site
  • Coordinate with Project Management, Operations, Safety, Sales, Drafting, and Manufacturing to keep projects moving
  • Handle field administration: purchase orders for job-site supplies, daily Acumatica photos and work descriptions, ExakTime, and required OSHA, customer, and company safety documentation (daily JSAs, equipment sign-out forms, etc.)
  • Close out projects with punch lists based on walkthroughs with owner\'s and subcontractor representatives
  • Work a rotating schedule of 20 days on assignment followed by 5 days off
  • Grow your career along our field leadership path, with opportunities to move toward project management roles
What You Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in agricultural construction or a related industry (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of agricultural equipment — its operation, repair and maintenance, and new installation
  • Proficiency reading blueprints, planning and overseeing equipment installation, and ensuring proper fabrication of components on site
  • Excellent communication skills with your crew, internal teams, and customers
  • A meticulous, organized approach to tracking work against project schedules for Mid-States crews and subcontractors
  • Strong math skills, including fractions and decimals
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., and 50 lbs. repeatedly, with minimal assistance for up to 10-hour shifts in varying environments and positions
  • A valid driver\'s license — this role may include driving a company vehicle to transport crew members to job sites
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Benefits
  • 100% company-paid high-deductible health plan option, plus two PPO options
  • 5% 401(k) match
  • Annual profit sharing for all team members
  • Annual boot and eyeglass allowance
  • 2 weeks of PTO in your first year, 8 paid holidays, and 2 floating days
  • Recognition for military and first responder employees
Who Thrives Here
  • Ownership — Personal accountability to world-class results. You treat every site like it carries your name, and you don\'t call a job done until it\'s done right.
  • Stewardship — Cultivating what is entrusted to us. You take care of your crew, your customer\'s facility, and the company\'s resources — and you leave all of them better than you found them.
  • Tenacity — Urgency. Grit. Perseverance. Long days, tight schedules, and curveballs on site don\'t rattle you; you find a way to keep the job moving.

People stay at Mid-States for the challenge — and because, as a family-owned company that keeps growing, that growth creates real opportunities for our people to move into their next stage. If you\'re ready to lead in the field and own your projects from start to finish, we\'d love to talk.
