Job description

Join to apply for the Site Simulation Education Specialist role at Advocate Health.

Supports the development and implementation of evidence-based simulation education at Advocate Aurora sites. Partners with faculty in all steps of curriculum design, from needs assessment to program evaluation. Reporting to the Manager System Simulation, this position provides leadership in establishing and achieving simulation-based education that aligns with strategic organizational outcomes and improves patient safety and outcomes. Involves creating, implementing, and evaluating simulation lab and in situ based simulations for an inter-professional learner audience.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Facilitates simulation-based curriculum that promotes safety, quality, and service.
  2. Develops, leads, and delivers simulation-based education based on learning objectives utilizing adult learning principles.
  3. Provides site leadership in simulation-based learning.
  4. Collects data and evaluates the effectiveness of simulation-based training.
  5. Consults with site team members and utilizes available data to identify educational gaps where simulation would be valuable.
  6. Provides coaching and feedback to facilitators, instructors, and learners as appropriate.
  7. Maintains technical expertise for operation and troubleshooting of simulation equipment.
  8. Manages internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  9. Acts as a member of the Advocate Aurora Academy to develop comprehensive system-wide learning strategies, ensuring simulation is represented in our direction and priorities.
Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required
  • None Required.
Education Required
  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Education, Organizational Development, or related field.
Experience Required
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in a clinical setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Flexibility with changing priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to various Advocate Aurora Health facilities.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to move equipment and learning materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Normal office environment; travel required with exposure to road and weather hazards.
  • Operates necessary equipment for the job.
