Job summary

Vulcan Metals Corporation in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a Site Security Officer to develop and maintain a comprehensive security program protecting personnel, site infrastructure, and government-regulated information.

Responsibilities include implementing security policies, conducting audits, and overseeing surveillance, access control, and incident investigations. Requires 5+ years in security, knowledge of NIST SP 800-171, ITAR, NOFORN, and OSHA practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field.
  • Military service or security-related training is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of security management experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or government-contracting environments.
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-171, ITAR, NOFORN.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices; ability to collaborate with EHS personnel.

  • Promote a proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental culture by modeling safe work practices and accountability.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Communicate Safety & Sustainability initiatives and ensure critical controls are adhered to by employees and contractors.
  • Report, document, and investigate safety, security, environmental, and quality incidents.
  • Develop and enforce site-wide security policies and programs including NIST SP 800-171, ITAR, NOFORN.

Position Overview: The Site Security Officer assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive security program that protects personnel, site infrastructure, controlled technologies, and government-regulated information. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and contractual security requirements, mitigates operational and regulatory risks, supports business continuity, and promotes a strong culture of security across the entire site.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promote a proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) culture by modeling safe work practices and holding yourself and others accountable
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, work instructions, and management systems are understood and consistently followed
  • Communicate Safety & Sustainability initiatives and ensure critical controls are adhered to by employees and contractors
  • Ensure all safety, security, environmental, and quality incidents are promptly reported, documented, and investigated
  • Foster a culture of quality compliance through observations, reporting adverse conditions, and supporting continuous improvement
  • Assist in developing, implement, and enforce site-wide security policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with applicable federal regulations and contractual requirements, including NIST SP 800-171, ITAR, and NOFORN
  • Oversee the site physical security program, including surveillance systems, access control, alarm monitoring and protection of personnel, property, and controlled technologies
  • Conduct routine site patrols to identify vulnerabilities, verify compliance, and respond to suspicious activity
  • Perform documented physical security assessments and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and readiness
  • Conduct internal security audits, compliance inspections, and investigations involving incidents, access violations, and procedural deviations. Prepare documentation and recommend corrective actions
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience considered
  • Military service or security-related military training highly desirable
  • Minimum (5) years of security management experience, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or government-contracting environments
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-171, ITAR, NOFORN, and related security regulations
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices; ability to collaborate with EHS personnel

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Site Security
  • 5-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Incident reporting and investigation experience required

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Advanced Excel required
  • Advanced Access skills preferred
  • Understanding of DFAR clauses for government contractors
  • Understanding of NIST SP 800-171
  • Good written, verbal communication, and collaborative skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions
  • Must have the ability to change between sitting, standing, and kneeling positions
  • Must have the ability to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry 55 pounds frequently
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the work shift
  • Visual acuity sufficient for inspections, surveillance monitoring, and security tasks
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, and isolated or crowded work environments

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Must be available overtime if needed)

Pay Range: $63,322-$79,153 (Non-Exempt)
