Job Summary Overview:

Acousti Engineering is seeking a proactive Safety Manager to manage the site-specific safety requirements of the project while ensuring a safe working environment.

Role:

The Safety Manager oversees workplace safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and fostering a safety-conscious culture. They will manage safety programs, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and provide training.

Reporting:

  • This position reports directly to the Corporate Safety Director.

Responsibilities:

Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OSH) guidelines and regulations.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments: identify hazards, and implement control measures to minimize risks.
  • Training: Conduct safety training for employees and subcontractors.
  • Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Policy Enforcement: Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate safety-related records and documentation.
  • Communication: Communicate safety-related information to employees and management.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with project management teams and other stakeholders to address safety concerns.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve safety programs and practices.
  • Other: Other responsibilities as required by contract requirements not listed or as directed by management.

Qualifications:

Experience: 5-10 years construction experience on large commercial projects with 2-5 years as a safety professional.
Certifications: OSHA 30, OSHA 510 or BCSP STSC, and First Aid / CPR / AED.

Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines.
  • Understanding of risk assessment and hazard control.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Experience in fall protection, scaffolding, and aerial lift equipment is required.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Procore.
  • Lead by Example.
  • Physical Requirements:


This position involves standing and walking for extended periods, reaching overhead, and using fine motor skills for data entry. The employee will be required to wear safety glasses, gloves, a hard hat, will be exposed to moderate noise levels, and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.
