Job summary

Ameresco, Inc. in Augusta, GA seeks an experienced Site Safety Manager to oversee daily construction operations and ensure a safe, healthy work environment for Veterans Medical Center projects.

You will develop site safety plans, conduct audits, train personnel, and lead incident investigations under OSHA and DoD standards. The role requires EM-385 certification, 5+ years safety management, and current First Aid/CPR/AED and OSHA credentials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years safety management experience in related fields.
  • EM-385 Certification is required for project oversight.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED and OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety credentials.
  • Experience with DoD construction contracts and safety management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare site safety plans and AHAs for assigned projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Policies and adopted Standards.
  • Verify PPE meets OSHA/EPA requirements and train employees.
  • Conduct safety audits and follow-up inspections on sites.
  • Lead safety trainings for project personnel and subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor safety qualifications and participate in pre-con meetings.
  • Develop corrective action plans and implement safety solutions.
  • Guide incident investigations and maintain safety certifications.

Position Overview:

Ameresco currently has a new opportunity in Augusta and Atlanta, Georgia for an experiencedSite Safety Manager to oversee daily construction and project operations and ensure a safe, healthy, accident-free work environment. These projects are with Veterans Medical Center and Veterans Integration Service network doing building upgrades over the next 5 years.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the Site-Specific Safety Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis for assigned Business Unit projects.
  • Ensure compliance to all Safety Policies and adopted Standards.
  • Ensure personal protective equipment meets applicable OSHA/EPA requirements and employees are trained on proper use.
  • Conduct Safety Audits of assigned project sites ensuring work is being accomplished safely and occupational health is not compromised.
  • Safety training of all personnel assigned to project.
  • Conduct project safety inspections with follow-up inspections of any open items.
  • Review Subcontractor safety qualifications and attend Pre-Construction Meetings.
  • Creation and evaluating activity hazard reviews.
  • Regulatory compliance with OSHA and Ameresco standards and conducts accident and incident investigations.
  • Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans.
  • Work with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems.
  • Foster and maintain a positive safety culture for the project personnel.
  • Maintain all safety certifications as required by contracts.
  • Conduct quarterly safety meetings for Project Staff.
  • Produce Safety Reports of activities performed.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management.
  • Lead Incident/accident Investigations.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline OR a minimum of 5 years related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial, government, or industrial safety management.
  • EM-385 Certification.
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, 30-hour Construction Safety and industry.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs).
  • Ability to review confidential US security information.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Ability to manage positive and effective interpersonal, functional, organizational relationships with all parties.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and presentation skills.Current CHST, CSP, ASP, CSHO, or equivalent professional safety certification.
  • Experience working under USACE, NAVFAC, AFCEC, or other Department of Defense construction contracts.
  • Experience with electronic safety management systems and digital reporting
  • Valid Driver License issued by state of residence and in good standing.
  • Ability to travel and provide on-call response required.
