Site Safety Role and Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to the following roles and responsibilities listed below:

  • Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, and the general public.
  • Enforce corporate and project-specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state, and local safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of project-specific safety programs.
  • Identify known/potential exposures and recommend corrective action.
  • Report project-specific safety performance and future plans.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement overall project-specific safety programs.
  • Work closely with field supervision to plan more complex safety aspects of the project construction including critical lifts, hazardous material handling, etc.
  • Develop project-specific safety training for jobsite personnel including subcontractors.
  • Coordinate third-party safety reviews including OSHA.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, and implement immediate corrective action.
  • Provide the job foremen with appropriate training materials to conduct weekly "tool box" safety meetings. The Safety Specialist shall attend the weekly “tool box” safety meetings to ensure that the meetings are held and are meaningful. Whenever the attendees are non-English speaking, training materials shall be provided in their language. Review the foreman’s safety meeting reports.
  • Ensure that all employees are provided with and are using the proper protective equipment and tools for the job.
