Environmental and Safety Solutions is looking for an experienced Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) to join our team for an exciting construction project in Chesapeake, Maryland! We are seeking a dedicated professional with at least five years of continuous SSHO experience who is passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of employees.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, possesses solid computer skills, and is self-directed in managing safety protocols and compliance. Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Manage safety orientation program and provide ongoing job-specific safety training.
2. Coordinate and conduct safety meetings, to include materials, agendas, minutes, and attendance.
3. Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log.
4. Conduct investigations and complete required reports.
5. Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and subcontractors.
6. Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.
7. Attend meetings as required.
8. Develop, implement, and enforce accepted Accident Prevention Plans and Activity Hazard Analysis.
9. Ensure personnel and subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
10. Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material safety data sheets.
11. Ability to organize tasks and work efficiently without direct supervision.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Must be familiar with construction safety.
2. Must be able to work on boats and barges.
3. Must have a minimum of 3 years of dredging experience.
4. Must have a minimum of 5 years of SSHO experience.
5. Must have current First Aid/CPR certification training.
6. Must have attended recent EM-385 training and have annual training records current.
7. Must be a good communicator and team oriented.
8. Must be able to advise on OSHA, EM-385, EPA and other pertinent safety and environmental requirements.
9. Must have experience providing safety at a large and complex job site.
