Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking a Site Safety Coordinator to promote and maintain a safe work environment across multiple active construction projects in the DMV area. The role collaborates with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure OSHA compliance and best practices.

This position requires travel to job sites and is ideal for a proactive, organized safety professional committed to protecting workers and maintaining regulatory adherence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial mechanical construction.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• OSHA 30 certification is required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce VMG safety policies on active construction sites.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Identify unsafe conditions, recommend corrective actions, and follow up for compliance.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings and preventive measures.
• Deliver safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to field employees.
• Partner with project managers and field leadership to foster a strong safety culture.
• Maintain safety documentation including inspection and incident reports and training records.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Assist with emergency response planning and safety initiatives.
• Communicate safety expectations to English- and Spanish-speaking employees.

We are seeking a Site Safety Coordinator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment across multiple active construction projects. The Site Safety Coordinator will work closely with project managers, superintendents, field personnel, and executive leadership to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.

This position requires regular travel to project sites throughout the DMV area and is ideal for a safety professional who is proactive, organized, and passionate about protecting people.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce VMG's safety policies and procedures on active construction sites.
• Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, recommend corrective actions, and follow up to ensure compliance.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending preventative measures.

• Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, incident reports, training records, and regulatory compliance records.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Assist with emergency response planning and support jobsite safety initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with both English- and Spanish-speaking employees to reinforce safety expectations and training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial mechanical construction.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the DMV region.
