Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a systems engineer to develop and maintain automation in Linux environments, building Bash scripts and orchestration tools for data flows. You will design Kibana dashboards, support Elasticsearch data ingestion, and monitor system performance to drive efficiency.

Applicants should have 2–5 years in related roles, Linux experience, Bash scripting, and ELK Stack expertise, plus an active TS/SCI clearance and Security+ certification.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Security+ Certification.
  • 2–5 years of experience in systems engineering, automation, DevOps, software development or related roles.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation tasks.
  • Experience with ELK Stack and Kibana dashboard development.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, log aggregation, and analytics.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, operating systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automation solutions in Linux environments.
  • Create and enhance Bash scripts to automate system administration and log gathering.
  • Develop and maintain job orchestration tools for data flows.
  • Design, build, and maintain Kibana dashboards and visualizations.
  • Support Elasticsearch data ingestion, indexing, and search optimization.
  • Monitor system performance and identify automation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with admins, developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements.
  • Assist with log analysis, troubleshooting, and operational reporting.
  • Document automation processes and configurations.
  • Participate in system testing, deployment, and sustainment activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for monitoring and observability.

Requirements
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Security+ Certification
  • 2–5 years of experience in systems engineering, automation, DevOps, software development or related technical roles
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system administration tasks
  • Experience with the ELK Stack, including: Elasticsearch, Kibana dashboard development, and Logstash or data ingestion pipelines
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, log aggregation, and operational analytics
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, operating systems, and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
