Job summary

1872 AI is seeking an experienced infrastructure leader to own the cloud, edge, and network backbone powering our automated factories in Cincinnati. You will ensure production systems are available, secure, and fast, architecting zero-trust environments and solving complex edge challenges on the factory floor.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years building production software, deep Kubernetes expertise across AWS/GCP and on-premise edge, and hands-on experience with Terraform/OpenTofu/Pulumi.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software you owned end-to-end, designed, shipped, and debugged in prod.
• Expert in Kubernetes and managing workloads across cloud (AWS/GCP) and on-premise edge servers.
• Experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, Pulumi, or similar.
• Strong understanding of VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and isolating industrial networks from the internet.
• Experience with zero-trust principles, identity management (Okta/Auth0), and secure access tunnels.
• Experience standing up monitoring and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager) and building dashboards that give teams visibility into system health.
• Ability to self-direct and thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the infrastructure that powers our factories—cloud, edge, and the networks that connect them.
• Keep systems available, secure, and fast.
• Architect zero-trust environments and troubleshoot factory-floor network switches.
• Develop monitoring and dashboards to provide visibility into system health.
• Collaborate across teams to scale and improve production infrastructure.
