Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a 16-week Site Reliability Engineer co-op in Austin to work in a fast-paced agile environment. You will monitor, troubleshoot, deploy, and maintain production systems for IBM clients while gaining hands-on, real-world experience.

Eligible students must be enrolled in a bachelor's program and able to pause coursework during the co-op, with a full-time commitment of 40 hours per week from Jan 19 to May 7. Opportunity exists to transition to a full-time role subsequently.

Qualifications

• Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree and returning to complete it after the co-op.
• Available to start full-time between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Available to work 40 hours/week for 16 weeks Jan 19 - May 7.
• Co-op requires full-time commitment; no concurrent coursework during the term.
• System monitoring, observability, issue response, and troubleshooting experience.
• Automation experience for production environment changes.
• Linux operating systems knowledge.
• Operations and support experience including alert management and incident support.
• Scripting knowledge in Python, Go or Bash.
• Familiar with cloud providers like IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure or GCP.

Responsibilities

• 24x7 observability: monitor production systems and services around the clock.
• Cross-functional troubleshooting: collaborate with engineering for issues and workarounds.
• Deployment and configuration: use CI/CD tools to deploy services at scale.
• Maintenance and support: apply security patches and coordinate with Product support.
