Overview

GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Senior Site Network Administrator (S-NET) in Landover, MD. The Senior Site Network Administrator will provide design and upgrade efforts encompassing the network infrastructure across a large-scale enterprise IT program.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes the existing network architecture and provides designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies.
• Recommends best practices such as SDN, intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements.
• Designs telecommunications circuit specifications.
• Identifies the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services.
• Delivers service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Develops and maintains network architecture specifications and artifacts.
• Designs and plans network communications systems.
• Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
• Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools to meet business needs, including capacity planning.
• Conducts testing of network design.
• Monitors network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration.
• Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
• Advises network users on hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
• Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and hardware/software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
• Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.

Qualifications

• LEVEL III: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with 5-8 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3-5 years of experience; or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience.
• LEVEL IV: Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of experience; or Master's degree with 6-8 years; or PhD with 3-5 years of experience.
• Information Assurance Certifications consistent with 8570 IAT Level III (e.g., CASP CE, CISA, CISSP).
• Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance at start.
• Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience with expertise in routers, switches, firewalls, and unified communications equipment.
• Proven experience in VMware environments.
• Experience with Internet Protocol and Fiber Channel networks, routing protocols, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN networks protected by network encryptors.
• Professional certifications in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL are desired.
