Overview
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Site Network Administrator (S-NET) in Landover, MD to provide world-wide communications network support. The Network Engineer processes office automation packages, documents and manages information management tools, and collaborates with voice and video tools in a secure, flexible, distributed architecture supporting a classified DoD IT system.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes the existing network architecture and provides designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies.
- Recommends best practices such as SDN, Intent-based networking, and network segmentation protocols, etc., in order to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements.
- Designs telecommunications circuit specifications.
- Identifies the need for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services.
- Delivers service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Develops and maintains network architecture specifications and artifacts.
- Designs and plans network communications systems.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Conducts testing of network design.
- Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
- Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Qualifications
- LEVEL III: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with five (5) to eight (8) years experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with three (3) to five (5) years experience; OR a PhD with zero (0) to two (2) years experience.
- LEVEL IV: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with eight (8) to ten (10) years experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with six (6) to eight (8) years experience; OR a PhD with three (3) to five (5) years experience.
- Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III (i.e., CASP CE, CISA, CISSP).
- Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance at start.
- Minimum 3 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware including: routers, switches, firewalls, unified communications equipment.
- Proven experience in VMware environments.
- Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols.
- Proven experience designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors.
- Professional certification in Cisco, VMware, and/or ITIL is desired.
