Job summary

Erie Family Health Centers seeks a Site Medical Director for Erie West Town to lead clinical operations, ensure high-quality patient care, and collaborate with site leadership on staffing and performance goals.

Responsibilities include coordinating with providers, mentoring staff, and driving evidence-based practices to improve site outcomes. Illinois licensure and primary care board status are required.

Qualifications

  • Physician, APRN or PA licensed to practice in Illinois.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in a primary care discipline.
  • Additional master’s level degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Job description

Erie Family Health Centers, a nationally recognized top workplace with 14 sites in Chicago and suburbs, is looking for a valuable addition to our Operations Management team! The Site Medical Director at Erie West Town collaborates with the Site Health Center Operations Director regarding all aspects of site management; collaborates with Senior Provider Leadership and Human Resources to recruit, retain, and develop clinical providers; improves the quality of care of patients at the site by working with site medical providers, QI and Erie provider leadership to establish evidence-based best practices for the site; leads the clinical team to ensure cohesive care throughout the site.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with the Site Health Center Operations Director to ensure successful clinical operations at the site.
  • Accountable for the quality of care, patient satisfaction and clinical productivity for the site.
  • Actively participates in selecting providers to work at the site. Orients, coaches/mentors, evaluates and disciplines clinical providers for the site.
  • Implements and achieves performance goals and objectives that are set by the Senior Medical Directors and the Chief Clinical Officer for both individual providers and at the site level.
  • Communicates regularly with providers, both in writing and verbally, regarding changes in workflows, new Erie initiatives, and other important updates.
Qualifications
Education
Required:
  • Physician, APRN or PA licensed to practice in Illinois required.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in a primary care discipline.
Preferred:
  • Additional master's level degree or equivalent experience: public health, management and administration, or related field preferred
Experience
Required:
  • Two years of post-residency or APRN / PA clinical primary care experience required.
  • Basic rescuer CPR certification
Preferred:
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge
Required:
  • Clinical Expertise - Strong foundation in primary care with a commitment to evidence-based medicine.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork - Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff.
  • Operational Awareness - Understanding of clinic workflows, patient access, and scheduling best practices.
  • Management and leadership principles and practices -including planning, goal setting, budgeting, communication, team building, decision making, problem solving and change management.
  • Quality & Performance Improvement - Interest in clinical quality metrics, patient safety, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Communication Skills - Ability to communicate effectively with staff, providers, and leadership in a clear and professional manner.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving - Willingness to engage in problem-solving and process improvements within a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to Equity & Patient-Centered Care - Dedication to providing equitable, high-quality care to diverse patient populations.
  • Basic Understanding of Healthcare Systems & Technology - Familiarity with electronic health records (Epic preferred) and ability to navigate data for decision-making.
Preferred:
  • Bilingual fluency (English/Spanish) preferred. Will be required to assist or work with non-English/Spanish-only speaking patients and/or guests.
