Job summary

General Matter seeks an Industrial Construction Material Manager for the Paducah project site. You will oversee planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and QC of materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to engineering specs.

Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and field teams to maintain smooth material flow. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years in industrial construction material management.

Responsibilities

• Maintains detailed material inventories; track deliveries, usage, and shortages to prevent project delays.
• Oversee onsite material receiving, inspection, storage, maintenance, handling, and COC distribution according to safety and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Engineering to plan and prepare for material and equipment delivery and storage needs.
• Develop and implement material control processes, including documentation, reporting, and tracking procedures.
• Attend weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership; present field analysis as needed.
• Optimize material flow to reduce waste, minimize costs, and improve productivity across the project lifecycle.
• Prepare regular reports on inventory status, material costs, vendor performance, and project material risks.

About this role:

The Industrial Construction Material Manager oversees the planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and quality control of materials used on and for the GeM Paducah Project Site. This role ensures the right materials are delivered at the right time, in the correct quantities, and meet all engineering and safety specifications. The manager works closely with project managers, superintendents, procurement teams, vendors, and onsite personnel to maintain efficient material flow and support successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for logistics of all General Matter project materials and equipment are readily available for construction scopes.
• Plan, forecast, and coordinate material and equipment deliveries and transfers to General Matter project teams and General Matter subcontractors.
• Evaluates daily schedules and schedule projections to accurately track project needs for equipment and material delivery.
• Conducts Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel. Attends weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership; presents field analysis as needed.
• Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
• Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Engineering to plan and prepare for material and equipment delivery and storage needs.
• Maintain detailed material inventories; track deliveries, usage, and shortages to prevent project delays.
• Oversee onsite material receiving, inspection, storage, maintenance, handling, and COC distribution according to safety and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, Quality Assurance, and engineering teams to ensure material compliance with technical specs and industry standards.
• Develop and implement material control processes, including documentation, reporting, and tracking procedures. Identify and resolve material-related issues such as delivery discrepancies, damaged goods, supply chain delays, or vendor performance problems.
• Optimize material flow to reduce waste, minimize costs, and improve productivity across the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all material handling activities comply with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
• Prepare regular reports on inventory status, material costs, vendor performance, and project material risks.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial or heavy construction material management.
• Knowledge of industrial construction practices, codes, and material specifications (structural steel, concrete, piping, electrical, mechanical, etc.).
• Strong organizational and logistics skills with experience coordinating multiple complex project needs.
• Proficiency with inventory management systems, Material / Equipment tracking programs and procedures, and construction scheduling software.
• Excellent communication, vendor management, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced industrial environments and collaborate across multiple construction disciplines.
• Intermediate knowledge of transportation and equipment loading/unloading logistics required.
• Intermediate knowledge of best practices for rigging, loading, equipment rigging points, and safety required.
• Intermediate knowledge of scheduling processes and industry best practices.
• Intermediate interpersonal relationship skills, building new positive relationships towards a common goal.
• Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and people efficiently and effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven self‑starter and self‑motivated to learn and grow knowledge.
• Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.

Additional Requirements:

• Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is$100,000–$160,000 annually.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full‑time hires, you may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
