Job summary

General Matter in the United States seeks a General Site Foreman to lead a team of laborers and carpenters from installation through start of production. You will coordinate with project management, infrastructure engineering, and procurement to keep the site organized and on schedule.

You will inspect daily work, enforce plans and specifications, manage schedules and budgets, and communicate risks and progress to the Construction Manager and project leaders.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of mechanical piping construction experience.
  • Experience with treatment, manufacturing or process plant construction preferred.
  • 15+ years managing construction crews and/or subcontractors.
  • Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
  • OSHA 30hr certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Reviews project specifications and works with crews, engineers, utilities, and agencies to safely manage piping scopes.
  • Forecasts schedules and provides input to mitigate production issues.
  • Documents daily activities and meeting notes; supports risk identification and mitigation.
  • Coordinates with internal/external teams to ensure equipment and material readiness within budget.
  • Supports safety processes and training needs identified on site.

About This Role

The General Site Foreman works closely with members of the project management, infrastructure engineering, project controls and procurement departments from installation through start of production. This role manages a team of laborers and carpenters to keep general project site organized and clean. This role specifically includes scheduling trade workers in resolving day-to-day construction issues, performing day to day inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications while tracking project schedule and budget. This role works directly with the Construction Manager, General Site Superintendent, and Technical Project Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Supervisesall construction site maintenance for the project site and liaises between engineering, estimating, and workforce to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.
  • Directly responsible for supervising all site laborers and carpenters for site coordination.
  • General upkeep of site restrooms, disposal bins, safety system install/maintenance,
  • Supervises site logistics of the project site for deliveries, site activities, adjacent project coordination, and field scopes with project team and trade subcontractors.
  • Plans work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Reviews daily work schedule with direct reports and updates weekly schedule from project feedback.
  • Reviews and understands the project specifications to support job set up activities. Works with work crews, field engineers, design engineers, local utility companies, and local statutory agencies to safely manage piping scopes on job site.
  • Forecasts the work schedule to identify possible issues and provides technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
  • Provides technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities. Documents daily activities and meeting notes using Company approved document methods.
  • Performs additional assignments per management’s direction.
  • Presents production work plan during initial project meeting to ensure all project crews and leaders are in alignment.
  • Coordinates with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Coordinates with internal and external departments to ensure all mandated inspections are completed within requested timeframes.
  • Supports and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements. Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on jobsite.
  • Supervises sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work. Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.
  • Coordinates project close out activities in line with Company standards and AHJ checklist requirements.
  • Maintains knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of mechanical piping construction experience required.
  • Experience with treatment, manufacturing and/or process plant construction is preferred.
  • 15+ years experience of managing construction crews and/or subcontractors
  • Bachelor's Degree is a plus.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • OSHA 30hr certified is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $95,000–$130,000 annually.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
