Job summary

Surge Staffing is seeking a Site Manager – Site Superintendent to oversee onsite construction activities for technically complex research and development, production equipment, controls, and facility projects across the United States.

As the primary onsite point of contact, you will coordinate with customers, subcontractors, and the project team to deliver quality work safely, within budget, and on schedule. Extended assignments at customer locations are expected.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings to coordinate subcontractor work.
• Manage project schedules, deadlines and daily priorities for timely completion.
• Coordinate with the project team on scope/design/schedule changes.
• Monitor work quality and keep within budget and schedule.
• Identify and address unsafe conditions and document safe practices.
• Maintain project documentation and report progress and priorities.
• Remain assigned to customer sites for extended periods during construction.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Site Manager – Site Superintendent to oversee onsite construction activities for technically complex research and development, production equipment, controls, and facility projects throughout the United States.

This individual will serve as the primary onsite point of contact, coordinating with customers, subcontractors, and the project team to deliver quality work safely, within budget, and on schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, communicates effectively, and can adapt to changing project requirements while maintaining strong safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily onsite construction activities and coordinate work with subcontractors and project teams.
• Serve as the primary onsite contact for customers, maintaining clear communication throughout project execution.
• Read and interpret construction drawings to coordinate and monitor subcontractor work.
• Manage project schedules, deadlines, and daily priorities to support timely completion.
• Coordinate with the project team to address changes in scope, design, and schedule.
• Monitor work quality and support delivery within established budget and schedule requirements.
• Identify and address unsafe conditions to help prevent safety violations.
• Communicate and document safe work practices and site safety concerns.
• Maintain clear project documentation and communicate progress, issues, and priorities.
• Remain assigned to customer project sites for extended periods while construction is underway.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to read construction drawings, manage subcontractor work, and effectively oversee project schedules and deadlines.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and respond to changing deadlines, scope, and design requirements.
• Strong ability to recognize and prevent safety violations.
• Effective communication and documentation of safe work practices.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Initiative to develop professional skills and contribute to successful project delivery.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States and accept extended assignments at customer locations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
• Construction industry work experience.
• Experience or coursework in mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project scheduling software.
