Job description

Summary

The Site Manager is responsible for the strategic vision, implementation thereof and daily management of the Gordonsville site. The Site Manager works cross functionally with all levels of the organization in order to align the Site with Commercial deliverables, while streamlining processes for more efficiency, profitability and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the figurehead of the Gordonsville site, and as such, must be scalable to all levels of the organization, up to and including the CEO.
  • Lead by example to promote a culture of accountability, integrity, continuous improvement, HSSE, and quality; active champion of the company’s values, mission and vision.
  • Drive dramatic culture change in terms of safety, quality, and operational performance at the GOR site.
  • Lead stakeholders of HSSE, operations, engineering, planning, maintenance, supply chain, quality, and human resources to positively impact their functional areas and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead visionary approaches to transforming antiquated production scheduling processes in order to meet customer and operational needs in a transient work environment
  • Create, analyze and modify site budgets to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Build a collaborative environment between operations, maintenance, engineering, sales, research & development, IT, and finance.
  • Be fully comfortable and active in using Lean/Six Sigma principles in order to better overall Operational Excellence of the facility.
  • Be bold and visionary in approaches to managing the facility with transformational leadership… challenge the status quo and think ‘outside of the box’ to deliver operational and business key performance indicators!
  • Manage/lead and motivate team, ensuring adequate staffing levels. Partner with HR to ensure that recruitment, training, development, disciplinary issues, etc are managed at a tangible level to drive improved performance.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct responsibility for seven functional Managers, who supervise ~250 employees across all functional areas. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these Departments. Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Master’s of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in a technical field plus five to ten years related experience in the plastics/polymer industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
