Oversees sites providing community skills development and rehabilitative skills training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at local activity centers. Responsible for leading community coaching, community engagement and group day services. Work is performed under general supervision and is guided by agency policies and procedures, quality assurance, public and private payor guidelines, professional practices and including ethical standards related to client interactions, state and federal licensure and accreditation regulations and guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of day support programming; thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of prevocational and vocational training; thorough knowledge of the employers and service providers of the region; thorough knowledge of licensing requirements for the program and facility; considerable knowledge of the methods and use of electronic medical records and associated documentation; thorough knowledge of assistive equipment and apparatus; considerable knowledge of social casework management, including need assessment and supportive level counseling.
Considerable knowledge of the common disabilities and of the theories, principles and practices relating to the care and behavioral management of the intellectually-disabled and developmentally-delayed populations and associated age related issues; considerable knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention skills applicable to the intellectually disabled; considerable knowledge of the principles and techniques of group training; some knowledge of the management principles and practices applicable to human services programs. ability to establish rapport with intellectually-disabled individuals and their families.
Ability to collect, compile and evaluate electronically sourced or other sourced statistical and financial data and prepare reports; ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other staff and the staff of private and public agencies; ability to plan, schedule, supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates; ability to develop and conduct staff training; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to function calmly in stressful situations; ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, assess and record individual behaviors and functioning and develop treatment and service plans; ability to operate a vehicle; ability to effectively respond to crisis situations both behavioral and medical, ability to be on call after hours including weekends. Understands the definitions and knowledge required for community engagement, community coaching and group day services.
Bachelor's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences, and extensive experience in day support programs for the intellectually disabled/developmentally disabled adults including some supervisory experience.
Valid Virginia driver's license. Certification in First Aid/CPR. Training in Therapeutic Options (THEROPS) and Medication Management. Approved "Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP)".
