Develop and manage the overall strategy for delivering programs and services related to After School Child Care programs. Ensure staff excellence in delivering high-quality and safe programs. Manage all aspects of childcare programs to meet state licensing and Quality Rating System standards. Create a team of qualified leaders prioritizing children’s care and family education. Serve as an overall leader for the YMCA and enhance the YMCA Mission.

What is needed for this job

  • Degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services related field as defined by state licensing regulations.
  • Minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) childcare experience.

The responsibilities you will be trusted with:

  • Read and adhere to YMCA Policies, State Licensing Regulations (PA-DHS), and Quality Rating System standards.
  • Supervise children to ensure safety, identify needs, and maintain appropriate ratios. Keep accurate attendance records.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about children's progress, maintaining confidentiality and patience.
  • Provide engaging, age-appropriate interactions, positive feedback, and open-ended questions.
  • Maintain knowledge of policies, risk management, safety practices, and laws.
  • Understand and articulate the YMCA mission.
  • Ensure centers are well-equipped and organized with appropriate learning materials.
  • Attend team meetings and required training annually.
  • Use positive reinforcement for behavior management and conduct weekly child observations.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, adapting to individual needs.
  • Maintain compliance with licensing and quality standards, preparing for audits.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, contacts, trips, and allergies.
  • Support YMCA events and lead by example with professionalism.
  • Supervise staff, manage schedules, and conduct staff evaluations.
  • Support the District Team Leader and communicate effectively with families.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and lesson plans.
  • Maintain enrollment levels and perform other duties as assigned.
