Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a General Laborer (Matting Solutions) in Winnie, TX. The role supports our service capabilities by performing essential labor tasks across erosion control, site work, and restoration activities on rights-of-way and construction sites.

Responsibilities include installing controls, stake setting, seeding and soil amendments, and keeping sites clean and safe. Strong reading ability and a valid driver’s license are required, with travel and overtime expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read/write fluently in English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 1+ year of construction experience and knowledge of safety hazards on job sites.
• Excellent physical stamina—strength, balance, mobility, and ability to lift heavy equipment.
• Frequent use of hand tools: power tools, chop saws, grinders; ability to operate with safety.
• Willingness to travel out of town during the week or weekends; overtime may be extensive.
• Reading and interpreting construction plans (Access/Construction Plans) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install erosion and sediment control devices.
• Drive wood stakes into the ground with sledgehammers.
• Apply grass seed, fertilizer, and lime to work areas and spread straw blankets.
• Clean track equipment and remove mud and debris from roads and accesses.
• Install T-posts and safety fencing; lay geo-textile fabric.
• Load and unload construction materials and tools.
• Spot heavy equipment while it’s in operation.
