Job summary

OPmobility is seeking a SITE INJECTION TOOLING TECHNICIAN to join our global team in the Greer region. You will maintain mould tooling, perform breakdowns, and support production across shifts with strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Ideal candidates have a diploma in tooling or toolmaking and 3–5 years of tool maintenance experience, including welding and precision finishing. This role involves lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma level education with preferred specialization in toolmaking or tool maintenance.
• 3–5 years of proven experience in tool maintenance of mechanical components using lathes, grinders, milling machines and drills.
• Experience in a large manufacturing environment with problem solving and adherence to industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with HSE objectives and requirements.
• Carry out breakdowns and services in a safe and effective manner.
• Follow a maintenance schedule to manage tools at a high standard.
• Maintain all moulds on site per procedures and standards.
• Prioritize breakdowns, rectify problems and minimize downtime.
• Support production areas as required.
• Improve product first-pass yield through tool management and quality.
• Document all work, repairs, or modifications on tools on site.
• Analyze past problems from data to aid fault finding on site.
• Work within shift pattern and cover call out as scheduled.
• Participate in mold strip downs during projects with plant engineer and tool makers.
• Support new project trials and offsite activities, helping tooling for industrialization.
• Support SMED activities.

Contract Details

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with corporate and division HSE objectives and requirements
• Carry out breakdowns and services in an effective and safe manner
• Follow a controlled tool maintenance schedule to ensure tools are managed at a superior level
• Maintain all moulds on site according to the procedure and agreed standard
• Prioritize breakdowns, rectifying problems and minimizing downtime
• Support all production areas as required
• Achieves improvement in product RFT through a dedication to tool management and quality.
• Document all work, repairs or modifications carried out on the tools on site
• Analyze previous problems from historical data to assist in fault finding on site
• Undertake all tasks within the agreed shift pattern and cover call out as per schedule
• During project phase, participate in mold strip downs in collaboration with plant engineer, engineering center and tool makers
• Supports new project trials and offsite activities, preparing tools for plant industrialization, participates in trails and propose improvements
• Support SMED activities

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Diploma level education with preferred specialization in toolmaking, tool maintenance or equivalent
• Proven experience (3-5 years) in tool maintenance of mechanical pieces, with use of lathes, grinders, milling machines and drills
• Experience in a large manufacturing environment, with a background to problem solving, deployment of industrial standards and best practices
• Ability to TIG/MIG weld to a high standard is essential
• Polishing and linishing to a high standard is required
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and electrical systems on mould tools would be an advantage
• Skilled in preventative / predictive maintenance applications
• Dedication to safety
• Good communicator
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs, without assistance
