Golden Gate Recruiting is hiring for American Turbines in San Francisco. The Site Engineer will own the on-site integration of the first microturbine installation, coordinating mechanical, electrical, and civil aspects to ensure proper fit and connections.
You will be based in San Francisco with weeks on-site during installation, defining the plan and ensuring it holds up as equipment arrives. Relocation may be needed; visa sponsorship is not offered.
Golden Gate Recruiting is thrilled to be hiring for American Turbines, a seed-stage hard tech company in San Francisco backed by the investors behind SpaceX, Boom Supersonic, and Hadrian!
The power grid was built for a world that no longer exists. Centralized generation, hundred-mile transmission lines, decade-long permitting cycles. Meanwhile, demand is exploding: AI data centers, industrial electrification, remote operations that need megawatts yesterday and can't wait for utilities to catch up.
American Turbines is designing small modular gas turbines, purpose-built for distributed power generation. Machines designed from a blank sheet to be manufactured at scale, clustered in arrays. Hundreds of units operating in parallel, dynamically matching load like a compute cluster matches demand. We are a seed-stage company backed by the investors behind SpaceX, Boom Supersonic, and Hadrian.
The Site Engineer for our installation program will own how our first microturbine installation fits together at a site level: where the turbines are located, whether we need concrete pads poured, where the transformers go, and how the turbines line up with the electrical and pipeline connections they need.
You’ll be based in San Francisco, but plan on stretches of weeks on-site during installation, not just the occasional trip. You will work the full chain from site plan to working installation, translating between what the turbines need, what the site has, and what has to get built to connect the two.
This is not a role where the plan gets handed to you finished. You will be defining that plan yourself and then making sure it holds up once equipment starts showing up on-site.
Experience with systems integration on complex industrial or power generation equipment, whatever the domain. Site planning, balance-of-plant, or similar work where you had to coordinate mechanical, electrical, and civil scope at once and make it all fit together in the real world, not just on paper.
You default to walking the site rather than only working from drawings. You’re comfortable being the person who has to catch the conflict between two other people’s plans before it becomes a problem in the field.
