Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Site Engineer, Design Engineering to provide critical CAD and engineering support to the onsite team for the Natrium Demonstration Project, its advanced sodium‑cooled fast reactor under construction near Kemmerer, Wyoming. This onsite role reports to the Engineering Integration Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with CAD programs, including SolidWorks and Autodesk; Navisworks/Propeller/SmartPlant desirable but learnable.
  • 0–4 years of engineering experience in design, construction support, or field engineering on large EPC projects.
  • Able to interface with construction, procurement, quality, licensing, and regulatory entities to resolve on-site issues while maintaining schedule and safety.
  • Understanding of nuclear design and licensing basis requirements, configuration management, and QA in regulated nuclear environments.
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills in high-stakes environments.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain site access and security clearances for a nuclear construction site.
  • Familiarity with nuclear construction codes (e.g., NQA-1, ASME sections) is desired.

Site Engineer, Design Engineering

TerraPower is seeking a Site Engineer, Design Engineering to provide critical CAD and engineering support to the onsite engineering team for the Natrium Demonstration Project, our advanced sodium‑cooled fast reactor under construction near Kemmerer, Wyoming. In this role, you will help ensure engineering activities remain aligned with construction, testing, startup, and turnover milestones while maintaining strict compliance with the design and licensing basis, nuclear safety standards, and project requirements.

This is an onsite position reporting to the Engineering Integration Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide CAD support to the Site Design Engineering and Project Controls teams.
  • Assist Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers with the disposition of design changes within TerraPower’s Division of Responsibility.
  • Support the Engineering Integration Manager with procedure development, design change prioritization and status tracking.
  • Coordination with the TerraPower onsite project controls group and home office engineering organizations
  • Interface with the constructor’s field engineering, construction and design engineering organizations.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with CAD programs, including SolidWorks and Autodesk at a minimum; experience with Navisworks, Propeller, and SmartPlant is desired, but ability to learn on these programs is required.
  • 0–4 years of engineering experience in design, construction support, or field engineering, preferably on large‑scale EPC projects.
  • Ability to interface with construction, procurement, quality, licensing, and regulatory entities to resolve complex onsite technical issues while maintaining schedule and safety priorities.
  • Understanding of nuclear design and licensing basis requirements, configuration management, and quality assurance programs in regulated nuclear environments desired (e.g., 10 CFR 50, 10 CFR 52, and NRC guidance).
  • Excellent communication and conflict‑resolution skills in high‑stakes environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain site access and any required security clearances for work at a nuclear construction site.
  • Familiarity with codes used in nuclear construction is desired (e.g., NQA-1, ASME Section III and VIII, B31.1, B31.3, ACI‑349, ACI‑318, AISC N690, AISC 360, IEEE 603).

Job details

Salary Range: $80,336 – $104,332 Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Wyoming State.
