Job summary

Arc Experience operates after-school programs at Animo Jackie Robinson Charter High School in Los Angeles and across Southern California. The Site Coordinator will lead staff, mentor Program Leads, and ensure students thrive beyond the classroom in a safe, engaging setting.

The role emphasizes leadership, program development, budgeting, and collaboration with school administration. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Regional Manager and offers benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee daily afterschool programs and activities.
• Ensure programs are engaging, age-appropriate, and promote development.
• Recruit, train, and manage afterschool program staff.
• Serve as primary contact for school administration and build partnerships.
• Develop staff schedules, assign duties, and conduct evaluations.
• Provide professional development to enhance staff effectiveness.
• Maintain safe, inclusive environments for staff and students.
• Address student behavior positively and in line with guidelines.
• Monitor attendance and engagement; communicate with parents and school staff.
• Collaborate with district staff to support program goals.
• Communicate progress and activities to parents/guardians.
• Maintain records including attendance and incident reports.
• Ensure compliance with state/local regulations, including safety/licensing.
• Develop and manage program budget; ensure efficient resource use.
• Oversee program setup, materials, space, and equipment.
• Coordinate transportation and meals/snacks as needed.
• Represent the organization positively to stakeholders.

Role Overview

Our Site Coordinator has a vital role in creating a positive and enriching environment where students can thrive beyond the classroom. This position is about fostering creativity, building confidence, and supporting academic and personal growth in a fun and engaging way. With strong leadership and organizational skills, the Site Coordinator ensures that every student feels safe, inspired, and empowered to succeed. As a Site Coordinator supporting the Program Leads, you will manage a team of staff, mentor Program Leads, and help develop their skills to enhance the overall quality of the program. It is a rewarding role that blends education, mentorship, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives.

The Site Coordinator position is full-time, non-exempt, and benefits eligible. This position reports to the Regional Manager.

Typical Day

• Plan, organize, and oversee daily afterschool programs and activities that align with the organization's mission and student needs.
• Ensure programs are engaging, age-appropriate, and promote academic, social, and emotional development.
• Recruit, train, and manage afterschool program staff.
• Ability to serve as the primary point of contact for school administration, fostering strong relationships and partnerships between school and afterschool staff to support program success.
• Develop staff schedules, assign duties, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
• Provide ongoing professional development and training to enhance staff effectiveness.
• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all staff and students.
• Address student behavior issues in a positive and constructive manner, following organizational guidelines.
• Monitor student attendance and engagement, addressing concerns with parents and school staff as needed.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with district staff to support program goals and ensure alignment with school and community needs.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to share updates on student progress and program activities.
• Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and program evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with state and local regulations, including licensing and safety requirements.
• Develop and manage the program's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Oversee program setup, including materials, space, and equipment.
• Coordinate transportation and meals/snacks for students as needed.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the afterschool program, representing the organization positively to all stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in after-school programming operations and administrative skills.
• 1+ years’ experience managing a team.
• To be a good communicator, able to talk to kids, parents, school admin and teachers comfortably, a problem solver, a team player, and a good listener.
• Ability to supervise and support staff without constant direction.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff.
• Professional attitude, commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and professional discretion.
• Proven ability to solve problems, make decisions, and resolve conflicts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and common operating systems.
• College transcripts that show you have 48+ college credit units completed OR you take and pass an academic proficiency exam.
• To get a TB test (and provide proof that it is negative) and pass a Live Scan background check.
• You will be required to take CPR and first aid training or provide proof that you have been certified within 12 months.
• English - Spanish bilingual speaker highly preferred.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday
• Depending on the school, there is an option for a split shift if there is a morning program, if there is not, then the shifts are 8-hour days.
