Job summary

Communities In Schools of Atlanta is seeking a Site Coordinator to advocate for students, connect families with resources, and coordinate school‑based supports. Qualifications

Communities In Schools of Atlanta(CIS of Atlanta) is a leading nonprofit dedicated to helping students stay in school and achieve in life. For more than 50 years, we have partnered with schools, families, and community organizations to remove barriers to student success through individualized support, resource coordination, and student advocacy.

Position Overview:

The Site Coordinator serves as a student advocate, mentor, and resource connector dedicated to helping students stay engaged in school through graduation and prepare for future success. This role supports students and families by:

  • Identifying and coordinating community resources.
  • Expanding parent and caregiver engagement and facilitating community partnerships.
  • Providing individualized support, advocacy, and case management services.

As the primary Communities in Schools of Atlanta representative at an assigned school, the Site Coordinator collaborates with students, families, educators, and community partners to remove barriers to student success and ensure students have access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of approximately 50 students through individualized case management, mentoring, advocacy, and support services.
  • Build relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners through ongoing engagement, outreach, and home visits.
  • Monitor attendance, behavior, and academic performance and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Connect students and families to educational, social-emotional, and community resources and services.
  • Analyze student and school data to identify needs and develop targeted support strategies.
  • Design and facilitate student support groups, enrichment activities, and evidence-based interventions. Coordinate tutors, mentors, volunteers, guest speakers, and community partners.
  • Promote parent and caregiver engagement through communication and outreach.
  • Maintain accurate case records, documentation, and data reporting.
  • Prepare reports and communicate regularly with school leadership regarding student progress and program outcomes.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with students, families, schools, or community-based organizations.
  • Most have a solid understanding of education, human services, juvenile justice, and systems that support students and families.
Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to build trusting relationships with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence and empower students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, families, colleagues, community partners, and service providers.
Program Coordination & Problem Solving
  • Ability to analyze attendance, behavior, and academic data to identify student needs and develop interventions.
  • Knowledge of youth development, family engagement, and community resources.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with data tracking and case management systems, including Salesforce and Caseworthy.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and complete timely reports.
Physical Requirements & Work Schedule
  • Ability to perform occasional light lifting and travel locally for home visits, meetings, and community events.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday during school hours, with occasional evenings and weekends required.
Certifications & Specialized Training (not required)

While not required, the following certifications, licenses, and specialized training may strengthen a candidate's ability to support students and families:

  • Mental Health First Aid Certification
  • Conflict Resolution and/or Mediation Certification
  • Restorative Practices or Restorative Justice Training
  • Professional Counseling License (LPC, LAPC, or equivalent)
  • Licensed Social Worker (LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent)
  • Training in Trauma-Informed Care, Youth Development, or Family Engagement Practices
  • Masters Degree in related field.
