Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory seeks a Construction Project Specialist to join the PMO in the Infrastructure Services Directorate. This field-based role provides on-site oversight for facility upgrades, new construction, renovations, and modernization efforts, ensuring safe, compliant, and timely outcomes.

Responsibilities include on-site oversight, safety compliance (DOE directives, OSHA), coordination with contractors, design reviews, permitting, and QA/QC.

Qualifications

• Significant technical knowledge of construction practices, materials, methods, and job site safety management.
• Proven experience with construction safety standards including OSHA, NFPA, and applicable DOE directives.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify safety or quality issues and drive resolution.

Responsibilities

• Support the PMO by performing day-to-day field oversight of construction activities, ensuring projects meet safety, drawings, specs, and objectives.
• Monitor contractor activities on-site, verify compliance, and conduct daily inspections to identify unsafe conditions.
• Collaborate with Contractor Superintendents to manage shutdowns and coordinate between contractor and Argonne personnel.
• Participate in baseline survey reviews, job hazard analyses, safety plan reviews, and design reviews.
