Dewberry is seeking a Site/Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Danville, VA office. The role involves site/civil design for residential, commercial, and industrial site development and capital improvement projects.

A housing stipend may be provided to eligible candidates. This internship offers hands-on project experience and opportunities to work on projects at the forefront of the industry.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
• Previous internship experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Water CAD, and Storm CAD is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Office is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site/civil development including grading design, roadway design, storm water systems design, and erosion/sediment control design.
• Work on design teams to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
• May conduct code research and assist with specifications.

The work will include site/civil design for residential, commercial and industrial site development and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of site/civil development including grading design, roadway design, storm water management systems design, and erosion and sediment control design.

Salary Range

$18.75/hour - $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands‑on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full‑time employee.
