Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Baltimore, MD office to work on site/civil design projects for commercial and energy infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with design teams and gain hands‑on project experience across grading, stormwater, utilities, and permitting activities.

Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Civil Engineering, with internship experience preferred; proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office is required, and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Previous internship experience is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Site/civil engineering including grading design, roadway design, storm water management systems design, utility design, traffic control and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Preparation of all associated calculations, reports and spreadsheets.
  • Field work including site visits for survey and natural resource reconnaissance, construction observation, photo documentation, parking counts, etc.
  • Working on design teams to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
  • May also conduct code research, write specifications, and assist in permitting activities.

Dewberry is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Civil department in our Baltimore, MD office to work on a variety of projects for clients within the commercial and energy sector.

Typical projects involve site/civil design for commercial and energy infrastructure site development and capital improvement projects.

Salary Range

$1 8 .75 /hour - $2 9 .75 /hour . Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands‑on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action.
