Job summary

HDR's Building Engineering Services Group seeks a civil engineer to design production for site layouts, drainage, grading, and utilities across diverse projects. You will perform quantity calculations, prepare specs, and engage in complex design decisions.

The role may act as a Technical Specialist or PM on mid-size projects and may involve supervising staff. Required are a Bachelor's degree, PE license, and proven leadership and communication skills, with proficiency in CAD and Microsoft

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in general civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligible.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you’ll help design the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. Responsibilities
  • Design and plan production for general civil on a wide variety of projects, including site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities.
  • Perform quantity calculations.
  • Prepare specifications and contract documents.
  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed.
  • Function as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid‑size projects as needed, but project management is not the sole focus of this position.
  • Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in general civil engineering.
  • Proficient and demonstrated applied experience with CAD civil engineering software such as Bentley Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D; specialty civil platforms (e.g., Openflows) as required.

  • Previous experience in general civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
