Position Overview
As a Site Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in leading civil engineering projects within a dynamic, collaborative team. You will manage and contribute to the design and development of site civil engineering solutions across a variety of project types, including land development, utilities, transportation, and public infrastructure. Working closely with project managers, clients, and other disciplines, you will take projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, constructibility, and innovative design solutions that align with our firm's commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expertise in civil engineering design, including code compliance, site grading, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting.
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to establish project scope, schedule, and budget; provide quality assurance; lead work sessions; troubleshoot design issues; and coordinate technical project components.
- Ensure the design intent from planning phases is accurately reflected in construction documents.
- Conduct site visits to address field issues, including unforeseen conditions, code compliance, and interpretation of construction documents.
- Coordinate the work of civil engineering team throughout design development and construction documentation phases. Review reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical analyses for accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, EPANET, MicroStation, etc.) to prepare detailed civil engineering documents.
- Promote the use of appropriate design software and technology for high-quality, efficient project deliverables.
- Mentor, train, and guide less experienced civil engineering staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent experience for licensure.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain PE licensure.
- 8+ years of relevant civil engineering experience across various project types, including experience with zoning boards and planning commissions.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license.
Additional Qualifications
- Multiple state licensures.
- NCEES registration and NSPE membership.
- CSI-CDT certification.
- LEED AP BD+C and/or WELL AP certification.
- Experience with HEC-RAS, EPANET, MicroStation, or SYNCRO.
- Experience with project management tools like Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Record of professional reporting, presentations, publishing, and industry thought leadership.
