Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training for its Site/Civil team in Maryland. The role targets Spring 2027 graduates with a start in Summer 2027, contributing to public and private land development projects and working under senior engineers.

You will assist with design, permitting, and field reporting, using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools, in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment at KCI’s office in Maryland.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in civil/site design or land development.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program.
• General knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects.
• Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations.
• Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies).
• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports.
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates.
