Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Summer 2027 Civil Engineer-in-Training to join our Site/Civil team for the Summer 2027 start, targeting Spring 2027 graduates. The role focuses on public and private land development projects with hands-on design and permitting exposure.

Responsibilities include supporting design, site layout, stormwater management, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and coordination with permitting agencies. This is a full-time position offering mentorship in an employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• 0-2 Years of experience.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program.
• General knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects.
• Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations.
• Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies).
• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development.
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates.
