Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Denver, CO is seeking a Site Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT)/Coordinator to support a wide range of market sectors and coordinate with a multidisciplinary design team from planning through construction administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • EIT preferred; if not, employee may be titled Coordinator with progress to EIT.
  • Experience with land development in A/E firms is preferred.
  • Local candidates preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to civil engineering scope and budgets for proposals.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to complete due diligence research and documentation.
  • Develop concept site layouts compliant with all jurisdictional requirements and support the pre‑application process.
  • Coordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to determine design and submittal requirements.
  • Assist with community outreach as defined within the scope of a project.
  • Attend and contribute to client meetings.
  • Transition concept plans through schematic and construction design processes.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants for support and design services.
  • Design and produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Perform calculations for site development (stormwater pond sizing, culvert and pipe capacity analysis, hydrology calculations, etc.).
  • Author reports that are technically sound, grammatically correct, and well organized.
  • Collaborate with team engineers to determine the best course of action.
  • Be independent in pursuit of information and solutions.
  • Manage time and organization of multiple tasks/projects.
  • Communicate effectively with managers and team members.
  • Pursue efficiencies within your work and operations.
  • Mentor junior staff and delegate appropriate tasks.
  • Be an advocate for HDR, the BES Business Group, and the Site Civil team.
  • Perform other tasks that support the mission and vision of HDR and the BES Business Group.

Site Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT)/Coordinator

Location: Denver, CO. The role supports a wide range of market sectors including corporate, healthcare, education, municipal, civic, industrial, sports & recreation, and mission‑critical buildings and infrastructure. The engineer will coordinate with a multidisciplinary design team through the life cycle of projects from planning to construction administration.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Contribute to development of civil engineering scope and budgets for proposals.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources to complete due diligence research and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT certification strongly preferred; candidates hired without EIT will be titled "Coordinator" and expected to obtain EIT for career progression.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D with a drive to learn more.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering firm in land development.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
