Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Site Civil EIT/Coordinator to design site civil plans and manage permit processes. You will work with municipal agencies, prepare designs and documents, and support senior staff on diverse civil/site projects within HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group. A path toward licensure is provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare site civil engineering plans including site layout, grading, utility, stormwater management, and erosion/sediment control designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, permit applications, and contract documents.
  • Assist the Senior Engineer with site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentations.
  • Coordinate with municipal agencies and regulatory authorities to support permitting and entitlement efforts.
  • Conduct site research, zoning reviews, and due diligence investigations to identify project constraints and opportunities.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, cost-related calculations, and other engineering analyses to support project development.
  • Perform administrative duties for project management of civil/site projects.
  • Independently manage small tasks and assist senior staff on larger projects.
  • Assist with site visits, field investigations, and construction-phase support activities.
  • Learn HDR standards and progress toward licensure.

Education

Bachelor's degree
Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate preferred

Site Civil EIT/Coordinator

In the role of Site Civil EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:

  • Prepare site civil engineering plans including site layout, grading, utility, stormwater management, and erosion and sediment control designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, permit applications, and contract documents
  • Assist the Senior Engineer with site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentation
  • Coordinate with municipal agencies and regulatory authorities to support permitting and entitlement efforts
  • Conduct site research, zoning reviews, and due diligence investigations to identify project constraints and opportunities
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, cost-related calculations, and other engineering analyses to support project development
  • Perform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects
  • Independently manage small tasks and assignments while supporting senior staff on larger and more complex projects
  • Assist with site visits, field investigations, and construction-phase support activities
  • Learn and apply HDR standards, procedures, and quality requirements while progressing toward professional licensure
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or other software (Bentley OpenRoads, MicroStation, InfraWorks, ArcGIS, or similar platforms)
  • Knowledge of site development principles including grading, stormwater management, drainage design, utility layout, and erosion and sediment control
  • Basic understanding of local, state, and jurisdictional design standards and permitting processes
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while also working independently on assigned tasks
  • Knowledge of civil engineering documentation and plan presentation, and how they interact with other discipline models
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as Hydraflow, PCSWMM, PondPack, HydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD, or similar software
  • Previous internship in site civil engineering, land development, transportation, municipal, or water resources
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and collaboration with project teams and clients
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
