HDR is seeking a Site Civil Engineering CAD Lead in Denver, CO to join the Building Engineering Services group. You will lead the site civil team, coordinate multi-disciplinary design efforts, and manage digital deliverables from planning through construction.

The role requires 5+ years of BIM experience, advanced 3D design skills, and strong collaboration with the Model Manager and project teams. This is a full-time on-site position based in Denver.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction for the site civil team and manage the digital model environment and deliverables at the project level.
  • Understand how all disciplines interact and how construction documents are produced.
  • Collaborate with the Model Manager to support the Digital Delivery Plan and project initiation.
  • Assist production teams across the project lifecycle—coordinates sharing and model merging.
  • Offer technical support on grading, pipe networks, layer standards, and workflow efficiencies.
  • Own production tasks like viewport setup, standards import, and sheet set management.
  • Monitor model health and coordination processes from planning through construction documents.
  • Mentor staff and provide guidance to Project Managers.
  • Support establishment of the document management system and server infrastructure.
  • Ensure appropriate software, access, and training to meet project needs.
  • Maintain company standards and model health; participate in Digital Delivery meetings.

Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineering CAD Lead for our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group located in Denver, CO. The BES team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, Controls, and Site Civil Engineering. This person will support the design of facility related sites in a variety of markets including Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, Sports & Recreation, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. Experience in land development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound designs.

In the role of Site Civil CAD Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
  • Provide direction for the site civil team, along with managing the digital model environment and deliverables at the project level
  • Possess an advanced understanding of how all disciplines interact and construction documents are produced
  • Work directly with the Model Manager to assist in generating and maintaining the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and project initiation procedure, establishing the server infrastructure, discipline models, and digital deliverables outlined in the project scope
  • Support production teams throughout the complete lifecycle of projects through tasks, such as: sharing coordinates, merging CAD and Revit models, establishing client standard protocols, and unifying titleblock and other sheet standards
  • Provide technical support to the site civil team in aspects, such as: grading practices, pipe networks, layer standards, and workflow efficiencies
  • Take ownership of production tasks, such as: viewport and sheet setup, importing standards, and sheet set manager initiation
  • To maintain quality, this individual will monitor the model health and coordination processes of the project, from the planning phase through construction documents
  • Execute tasks independently and also mentor and provide guidance to other team members
  • Monitor and oversee the establishment of the document management system and help maintain the server infrastructure for multi-discipline projects
  • Ensure the team has the appropriate software, versions, access, and training needed to execute the project requirements
  • Monitor and maintain company standards and model health
  • Participate in Digital Delivery coordination meetings with the Digital Design team to ensure optimal quality control through Design Reviews and 3D Coordination processes
  • Communicate, coordinate, and compile all project digital deliverables and exchange process at predetermined milestones
  • Project archiving at submittals and closeout
  • Mentor staff to help develop their skillsets
  • Provide guidance for Project Managers to support project needs
  • Engage with other Digital Delivery Leads to provide support and guidance
Preferred Qualifications
  • History of a commitment to technical excellence
  • Previous experience with teaching/guiding junior staff
Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree or a combination of education and related industry experience

  • Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools

  • Familiar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
  • Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications
  • Familiar with content creation and management concepts
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
