Job summary

Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority (NeMCMHA) is seeking a Supported Independence Program (SIP) Technician to monitor and support individuals using electronic monitoring systems across multiple sites in Alpena and surrounding counties. The role provides immediate response during emergencies and ensures safety, health, and security in the home and community.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities is desirable.
• Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders is valued.
• Other: Good organizational and communication skills required.
• Functional computer literacy is required.
• Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the agency.
• Ability to work within a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Responds to individuals' needs verbally, in person, or by arranging for the appropriate response.
• Operates electronic monitoring systems, ensuring each system works properly.
• Monitors incoming auditory clues for indication that support or intervention is needed.
• Pays special attention to needs identified in service plans and potential emergency situations through system or in person.
• Nurtures, comforts, and assures available opportunity for communication by individuals through monitoring systems.
• Demonstrate effective case recording in accordance with Person Centered Planning, and NeMCMHA “Case Recording Guidelines”.
