Job description

The goal of a Planner at SG Wayne is to strategize and drive accuracy between customer forecasts and inventory levels. The primary focus of this role is to maximize cash flow by predicting accurate sales and service levels through effective implementation of the SIOP Process (Sales/Inventory/Operations Planning).

This position maintains ongoing relationships with sales, customer service, finance, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to understand demand forecasting drivers. You will challenge forecasts from sales teams and analyze relevant data to improve forecast accuracy through transversal coordination actions and updates to the Supply Chain Planning tool. Responsibilities include running, analyzing, and reviewing reports related to forecast accuracy, adjusting POs accordingly, and communicating changes. Additionally, you will analyze and track freight spend at the site to optimize shipments and maintain appropriate inventory levels.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment in planning, master scheduling, or production scheduling. Essential understanding of JIT, Time-Based Manufacturing, BOMs, routings, and planning parameters. Knowledge of SIOP implementation is required.
• Proficient computer skills, especially in Excel, and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems. Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills are necessary.
• Excellent organization, planning, and follow-up skills are crucial for success in this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Upstream Management:

• Participate actively in the New Job Report process by maintaining relationships with sales, marketing, finance, sourcing, and manufacturing to understand demand drivers.
• Challenge sales forecasts and historical data analyses with relevant data insights.
• Enhance forecast accuracy using statistical models and software, coordinating updates to the Supply Chain Planning tool.

Analysis:

• Analyze quantity and financial forecasts.
• Report on forecasts and inventory KPIs.
• Conduct quarterly SIOP meetings and utilize the SIOP tool effectively.
• Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the Category Manager for global raw material consolidation.
• Analyze freight spending and implement cost-optimizing consolidations.

In-Process Management:

• Maintain item master data, BOMs, routings, and other system data related to planning and purchasing.

Downstream Management:

• Coordinate customer projects with Supply Planning.
• Manage inventory levels.
• Communicate product inventory strategies to the Supply Planning team.
• Adjust forecasts and inventory rules based on demand and market trends.
• Generate, review, and analyze actual versus forecast demand, updating forecasts as needed.
