Job summary

Austal USA is seeking a Safety/HSE role to support the HS&E Department in maintaining compliance with safety policies, injury prevention plans, and military regulations. You will work with employees on safety issues, perform inspections, and assist in investigations.

The position requires OSHA training certifications, 1–3 years of related experience, and the ability to travel for extended periods. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of related HSE experience or equivalent education.
• Must possess OSHA safety training certifications for 29 CFR 1915, 1910 or 1926.
• Willing to travel for two-month durations at a time.

Responsibilities

• Assist the HS&E Department in ensuring compliance with Austal Safety Policies and applicable regulations.
• Inspect sites and equipment; assist in accident investigations and safety inspections.
• Calibrate, use, and interpret air monitoring equipment; perform monthly safety inspection programs.
• Recommend corrective actions for temporary work stoppages or closures and coordinate with safety personnel.
