Pay Range : $ 25,086.53 – $32,369 annually at .49 FTE. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

The Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is a distinguished and innovative college providing excellence in education, scholarship, and practice in the health professions, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, and facilitating collaboration for the promotion of a healthy community. The primary responsibilities of this position are to independently prepare, manage, operate and maintain all equipment needed for the delivery of simulation learning in the college Simulation Learning Center (SLC) with a focus on advanced operation of high-fidelity computerized human simulators. This position will serve as an experienced, knowledgeable professional resource as a coequal member of the SLC administrative team. This role is part-time (19 hours per week) and is not eligible for benefits.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Problem Solving
  • Troubleshoots and maintains highly technical computerized simulators and independently assesses the appropriateness of different solutions based on professional knowledge and manufacturer recommendations.

  • Identifies problems/malfunctions with other clinical equipment, examines and repairs or reports as appropriate.

  • Analyze software and hardware applications and peripherals across the domain of high fidelity simulation for conflicts and failrues and provide professional insight into root causes, fixes, and preventative solutions.

Simulation Preparation
  • Independently ensures that the Simulation Learning Center is prepared to professionally execute simulation scenarios for learners across the spectrum from undergraduate to doctoral level students.

  • Performs advanced-level programming of high-fidelity simulations to maintain a consistently high level of medical realism.

  • Independently ensure supplies for specific events are staged, including installation of fluids to compartments of simulators and determine the appropriate moulage and props needed to increase realism of the simulator.

Equipment & Supplies
  • Independently tracks and schedules periodic maintenance, and repairs of task trainers, simulators, and other simulation equipment, performing such tasks in-house as the position deems appropriate.

  • Maintains cleanliness and order of specialized equipment and supplies.

  • Works as a co-equal member of the SLC administrative team to track supplies and equipment needs and to order supplies in preparation for upcoming simulations.

Simulation Daily Operations
  • Independently operate high-fidelity simulators at an advanced level and provide training to others in that professional domain. Identifies issues with the operation of simulation days and provides professional insight and guidance to the rest of the SLC administrative team in how to mitigate those concerns.

  • Provides management, oversight and support for Student Simulation Technicians throughout the simulation day.

  • Participates in orientation of students/faculty to the Simulation Learning Center.

  • Occasionally acts as a patient, family member, or care provider in some scenarios.

  • Independently determines the appropriateness of storage and maintenance options and ensures that supplies and equipment are dismantled and/or stored following events including routine cleaning and maintenance of the medical manikins.

Personal Growth
  • Maintains the attitude of a continual learner. Stays current with the developments in the field of Simulation Technology.

  • Participates in conferences and seminars.

  • Attends meetings and contributes to committee work as a professional member of the College.
