Pay Range

$ 25,086.53 - $32,369 annually at .49 FTE. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience andqualifications.This position is Non-Exempt from the Fair LaborStandards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

The Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing andHealth Sciences at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is adistinguished and innovative college providing excellence ineducation, scholarship, and practice in the health professions,offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, and facilitatingcollaboration for the promotion of a healthy community. The primaryresponsibilities of this position are to independently prepare,manage, operate and maintain all equipment needed for the deliveryof simulation learning in the college Simulation Learning Center(SLC) with a focus on advanced operation of high-fidelitycomputerized human simulators. This position will serve as anexperienced, knowledgeable professional resource as a coequalmember of the SLC administrative team. This role is part-time (19hours per week) and is not eligible for benefits.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but arenot limited to:

Problem Solving
  • Troubleshoots and maintains highly technical computerizedsimulators and independently assesses the appropriateness ofdifferent solutions based on professional knowledge andmanufacturer recommendations.
  • Identifies problems/malfunctions with other clinical equipment,examines and repairs or reports as appropriate.
  • Analyze software and hardware applications and peripheralsacross the domain of high fidelity simulation for conflicts andfailrues and provide professional insight into root causes, fixes,and preventative solutions.
Simulation Preparation
  • Independently ensures that the Simulation Learning Center isprepared to professionally execute simulation scenarios forlearners across the spectrum from undergraduate to doctoral levelstudents.
  • Performs advanced-level programming of high-fidelitysimulations to maintain a consistently high level of medicalrealism.
  • Independently ensure supplies for specific events are staged,including installation of fluids to compartments of simulators anddetermine the appropriate moulage and props needed to increaserealism of the simulator.
Equipment & Supplies
  • Independently tracks and schedules periodic maintenance, andrepairs of task trainers, simulators, and other simulationequipment, performing such tasks in-house as the position deemsappropriate.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order of specialized equipment andsupplies.
  • Works as a co-equal member of the SLC administrative team totrack supplies and equipment needs and to order supplies inpreparation for upcoming simulations.
Simulation Daily Operations
  • Independently operate high-fidelity simulators at an advancedlevel and provide training to others in that professional domain.Identifies issues with the operation of simulation days andprovides professional insight and guidance to the rest of the SLCadministrative team in how to mitigate those concerns.
  • Provides management, oversight and support for StudentSimulation Technicians throughout the simulation day.
  • Participates in orientation of students/faculty to theSimulation Learning Center.
  • Occasionally acts as a patient, family member, or care providerin some scenarios.
  • Independently determines the appropriateness of storage andmaintenance options and ensures that supplies and equipment aredismantled and/or stored following events including routinecleaning and maintenance of the medical manikins.

  • Maintains the attitude of a continual learner. Stays currentwith the developments in the field of Simulation Technology.
  • Participates in conferences and seminars.
  • Attends meetings and contributes to committee work as aprofessional member of the College.

Qualifications :
  • Bachelor degree in a field related to educational technology ORequivalent professional experience operating human patientsimulators is required.
  • Prior experience as a simulationist or simulation technician isrequired.
  • Prior work experience in the field of health care ispreferred.
