Job description

Simulation Operations Specialist – School of Medicine

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine is recruiting for a Simulation Operations Specialist. This position serves as the primary technical and operational support professional for the Nevada Rural Graduate Medical Education Consortium's (NRGMEC) statewide mobile simulation program. This position is responsible for the preparation, operation, maintenance, transportation, deployment, and troubleshooting of simulation equipment utilized in workforce development, clinical education, emergency preparedness, patient safety, and healthcare training activities conducted throughout Nevada's rural and frontier communities. The position supports simulation-based education programs by operating simulation technologies, preparing simulation environments, maintaining equipment inventories, transporting mobile simulation assets, coordinating deployment logistics, and providing technical support during educational activities. The Simulation Operations Specialist works closely with the Medical Director, Program Coordinator, faculty instructors, healthcare organizations, and community partners to ensure high-quality simulation experiences are delivered safely, efficiently, and consistently across participating sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate transportation and deployment of mobile simulation equipment throughout Nevada.
  • Operate and transport mobile simulation vehicles and trailers in accordance with institutional policies and applicable regulations.
  • Load, secure, transport, unload, and stage simulation equipment for training activities.
  • Conduct pre-deployment planning and site logistics assessments.
  • Operate high-fidelity patient simulators, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and simulation technology during educational activities.
  • Program and configure simulation scenarios under the direction of faculty and instructors.
  • Assist with registration, participant tracking, and operational support activities during training events.
Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree and two years of related work experience; OR a bachelors degree and one year of related work experience; OR a master's degree no work experience.
  • Related Experience: Experience supporting healthcare simulation, clinical education, emergency services training, healthcare technology, audiovisual systems, technical operations, logistics, transportation, or related environments; experience operating technology-based training systems and equipment.
  • Certification or licensures: Nevada driver's license.
Schedule and Travel

Will be required to travel extensively across the state to meet rural hospital leaders and stakeholders. Occasional out of state travel for conferences.

Compensation

Grade Administrative Faculty – A. Salary is competitive and commensurate with related education and experience.
