Job summary

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience creating 3D data with generative models.
  • Experience with 3D graphics or game engines (Unreal, Unity, Godot, Omniverse).
  • Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional partners including engineers, artists, and researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Build, enhance, and operate tools and pipelines for generation of 3D assets, scenes and scenarios from various inputs using generative models and procedural techniques.
  • Create assets/scenes for offline and real-time rendering for multiple uses.
  • Design and implement prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and production systems for versatile simulation scenarios.
  • Develop tools, APIs, and reusable components to automate workflows and integrate with Apple pipelines.
  • Stay current with advances in simulation, rendering, generative models, VLMs, and synthetic data.

Description

As a Simulation Generative Data Engineer, you will help develop next-generation simulation technology powering a broad range of AI/ML efforts at Apple. You will work on highly ambitious projects that transform ideas into production tools and datasets used across the organization to develop new Apple products.We’re looking for an engineer who is both practical and inventive—comfortable experimenting with new approaches, and iterating quickly from prototype to high-quality implementation. You will collaborate closely with engineers, technical artists, animators, and research teams to deliver data and tools. Your work will directly influence the scalability and quality of our simulation and scenario generation systems, unlocking our ability to impact multiple Apple projects.

Responsibilities
  • Build, enhance, and operate tools and pipelines for the generation of 3D assets, scenes and scenarios from a variety of inputs: text, images, video or other sensor data using contemporary generative models in concert with proceduraltechniques.
  • Create assets and scenes that may target offline rendering and/or real time rendering for a variety of uses.
  • Design and implement prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and production systems that expand our ability to create and vary simulation scenarios.
  • Develop tools, APIs, and reusable components that allow other teams to easily generate, manage, and automate theseworkflows. Integrate them with existing tools and pipelines and integrate related tech from all around Apple.
  • Stay current with advances in simulation, rendering, generative models, VLMs, and synthetic data in academia, industry , and at Apple; introduce new approaches where valuable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with solid software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience creating 3D data with generative models, especially in coordination with traditional approaches.
  • Experience with 3D graphics or game engines, including topics such as rendering, animation, scene graphs, or content pipelines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners including engineers, artists, and researchers.
  • Familiarity with USD and it’s APIs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Programming experience in C++
  • Experience with real-time simulation and game engines (Unreal, Unity , Godot, Omniverse, custom engines).
  • Experience with real-time and offline rendering, ray tracing, lighting, or shading.
  • Familiarity with MaterialX
  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows, especially perception tasks, generative models, or VLMs.
  • Knowledge of physics simulation, sensor simulation, or physically-based modeling.
  • Experience with industrial/commercial simulation tools or large-scale data pipelines

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
