Job summary

LiquidPiston, Inc. in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Simulation Engineering Intern for Spring 2027. You will work with experienced engineers on real propulsion problems, using modeling, simulation, and data analysis to guide design decisions and support physical testing.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree, has a strong foundation in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, and is eager to learn new tools. This is a paid, onsite internship with 5 days per week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Strong interest in simulation, modeling, and analysis.
• Solid foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or structural mechanics.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• Curious and eager to learn new tools and technologies.
• Detail-oriented with ability to handle technical data.
• Able to work independently and with a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and run simulation models for engine performance, thermal, structural, fluid, and system analyses.
• Analyze results to identify trends and design improvements.
• Support modeling across various operating conditions.
• Collaborate with test engineers to validate models.
• Automate simulation workflows and create data processing tools.
