LiquidPiston is seeking an Engine Test Intern for Summer 2027 in Suffield, CT. You will help setup, execute, and monitor engine tests on dynos and lab stands, install instrumentation, collect data, and assist with test planning and reporting.

The role targets students pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree with hands-on lab experience and a strong interest in propulsion systems. This paid internship offers exposure to high-velocity prototyping in a defense/aerospace context.

Qualifikationen

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field.
• Strong interest in engines, propulsion, thermodynamics, and experimental testing.
• Hands-on lab or fabrication experience and ability to troubleshoot test equipment.

Aufgaben

• Support setup, execution, and monitoring of engine and subsystem tests on dynos and lab stands.
• Assist with instrumentation installation, calibration, and troubleshooting (thermocouples, pressure sensors, flow meters, DAQ).
• Collect, organize, and analyze engine performance and test data.
• Help prepare engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and supporting hardware for testing.
• Support root-cause analysis of issues observed during testing.
• Participate in test planning, documentation, and post-test reporting.
• Collaborate with design, controls, manufacturing, and simulation teams to improve engine performance.
