Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. seeks a software engineer to define, design, develop, test, and maintain simulation models for IOS XR and SONiC. You will craft virtual board models, FPGA/SoC representations, and hardware-in-the-loop components to enable scalable network validation.

You will build and optimize distributed simulation platforms, contribute to open-source projects, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust tooling and AI fabric prototypes.

Qualifications

• Bachelors +5 years of related experience or Masters +3 years or PhD +0 years in CS/CE/EE.
• 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer developing simulation models.
• Experience with SoC design and architecture.
• Experience developing software using C++ in Linux environments.
• Experience with CI/CD processes.
• Experience using Python for test automation.
• Experience debugging models, drivers, and OSs.

Responsibilities

• Develop virtual board models for next-generation routing platforms.
• Model SoCs, ASICs, devices, sensors, and hardware components.
• Integrate hardware models and packet-processing models into virtual environments.
• Design, implement, and optimize simulation software and tools.
• Develop digital twins of router and AI fabric products.
• Build and maintain large-scale distributed systems.
• Develop automated tests and perform comprehensive regression testing.
• Debug simulation models, drivers, and OS software.
• Provide timely technical support to engineering teams.
• Contribute to open-source projects.
