Job summary

Samuel Merritt University seeks a Simulation Educator to support simulation-based learning at the Oakland Campus. The role reports to the Director of the Health Sciences Simulation Center and focuses on mentoring SMU faculty, developing SBL curricula, and ensuring best practices for simulations and debriefings.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a health profession, education, or simulation and an active RN license, with 2–3 years of SBL experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a health profession, education, or simulation.
• Registered Nurse.
• Prefer a minimum of 2–3 years experience in simulation-based teaching & learning.
• Ability to collaborate as a team member.

• Communicate and collaborate with faculty, staff, learners, and stakeholders.
• Ability to adjust to frequent changes in priorities, project needs, and workflow.
• Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure best practices are followed in SBL implementation.
• Serve as resource for SMU faculty integrating SBL strategies.
• Provide focused support to faculty from programs external to SMU.
• Facilitate deployment of simulation scenarios for learners, including debriefing.
• Mentor/coach SMU faculty during SBL activities to provide feedback.
• Collaborate with the Simulation Technology Specialist on the implementation and tech setup.
• Design, develop, implement, and evaluate new SBL sessions.
• Develop SBL curricula and assessment tools.
