The Simulation and Infrastructure Support Administrator maintains the daily operational readiness of our independent power plant simulation environments and classroom training spaces. This position acts as the primary technical interface for traveling instructors and manages the physical execution of classroom reconfigurations for staging and testing. Reporting to Manager, O&M Customer Training, under the guidance of the Senior Technical Instructor, you will support critical platform modernizations, configure localized network switches, and preserve absolute data isolation across our systems.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Perform routine testing, system resets, and infrastructure monitoring to ensure training simulators, classroom technology, and critical equipment operate reliably.
  • Provide technical support to field instructors, including troubleshooting, staging, configuring, and validating portable training systems before deployment to customer sites.
  • Manage inventory and logistics for training equipment, ensuring all hardware, networking components, and portable kits are tracked, maintained, and deployment-ready.
  • Assist with virtualization, server administration, system migrations, backup validation, and storage management to support training and simulation environments.
  • Support network operations and IT services by maintaining system documentation, validating network configurations, troubleshooting user access issues, and performing administrative platform maintenance.

  • Proficient with basic Cisco IOS commands, physical patch panels, and understanding Layer 2 VLAN structures.
  • Direct experience administering VMware ESXi virtual machines; exposure to or a strong desire to learn Proxmox bare-metal hypervisors.
  • Proven background troubleshooting technical issues over the phone with non-technical users under tight time constraints.
  • Fundamental exposure to PLCs, industrial network protocols (Profibus/Profinet), or basic SCADA/ICS concepts. Omnivise-T3000 administration desired.
  • Strong familiarity diagnosing physical-layer errors using tools like loopback plugs, ping testing, and checking switch MAC address tables.
